Upper Cervical Chiropractic and Neurodegenerative Conditions

MRI Inventor Validates Upper Cervical Alignment

Dr. Raymond Damadian MD, the inventor of both the MRI and Upright MRI machines is a vocal proponent for machine assisted Upper Cervical Chiropractic having conducted extensive research on the topic. He has objectively demonstrated that the top 2 bones of the neck C1 and C2, also known as the Atlas and Axis – protect a vulnerable area where the brain meets the spinal cord and that if these two bones are misaligned a variety of conditions may arise; namely headaches, neck pain, bulging disc, back pain, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Chronic concussion symptoms, slurred speech, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Parkinson’s, various neurological issues, and countless others. If this mechanical misalignment, aka subluxation, or as he calls it “Cranio-Cervical Syndrome,” can be responsible for causing these various conditions, then would it be possible to realign the position of these two bones and subsequently see an improvement? The answer is yes, and we’ll show you what his research and many others have found.

Having invented perhaps the most important diagnostic tool in the century, Dr. Damadian has devoted his skills in recent years to research on validating the supreme importance of Upper Cervical Chiropractic and various disease conditions. Our office utilizes the same sort of device that has been used in his many studies on this topic. Thanks to advancements in imaging, the results of an Atlas realignment is easy for any lay person to appreciate. See for yourself!!
Please see the links to the research papers and video where Dr. Damadian demonstrates how many varieties of conditions improve once a chiropractor re-aligned the Atlas bone into proper position.

Dr. Raynond Damadian’s Studies

The Possible Role of Cranio-Cervical Trauma and Abnormal CSF Hydrodynamics in the Genesis of Multiple Sclerosis
Study of 8 consecutive patients diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, all of whom saw significant improvements in their conditions.

Watch Dr. Raymond Damadian MD, showcase this research to a room full of neurosurgeons. He goes over a variety of conditions like epilepsy, Migraines, and MS. Pay attention to the last few minutes of the following video where the cerebrospinal fluid flow dramatically improves following a single treatment. The pulsating flow of the Cerebral spinal fluid is clearly being blocked when patients were scanned before their Upper Cervical correction. Dr. Damadian then shows the MRI scans after the correction where the Cerebrospinal fluid is much improved:

Here are the 2 peer reviewed blinded studies finding not only that an Upper cervical (C1-C2) misalignment is common among those with Multiple Sclerosis, but also that Upper Cervical chiropractic may be effective at improving symptoms associated with the disease

C1-C2 X-Ray assessment of misalignment parameters in patients with Chronic Cerebra-spinal Venous Insufficiency and Multiple Sclerosis versus patients with other pathologies
Ann Ital Chir, 2015
542 patients in the study. Data analysis of C1-C2 (Atlas vertebrae). X-Ray parameters shows that people with Multiple Sclerosis were 2-3x more likely to have a misalignment than regular population.
Preliminary results after upper cervical chiropractic care in patients with chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency and multiple sclerosis
Ann Ital Chir, 2015
How well does Multiple Sclerosis respond when this misalignment is corrected? Research shows how Cerebral Spinal Fluid and Blood flow function into and out of the skull/brain was impinged prior to the Upper Cervical Care and subsequently improved immediately afterwards. Patients also saw remarkable improvements in their brain function and overall health.

Decreased blood flow in and out of the skull, (CCSVI) caused by misaligned cervical vertebrae:

Incidence and distribution of extravascular compression of extracranial venous pathway in patients with chronic cerebrospinal venous insufficiency and multiple sclerosis
Phlebology: The Journal of Venous Disease, 2013
This study by Italian medical doctors discovered that the blood vessels entering and exiting the skull/brain of those with Multiple Sclerosis become compressed by Upper Cervical misalignments.

Positive results showed that manual realignment of the Upper Cervical neck improved blood flow into and out of the skull/brain. Yet another study showing how a misaligned cervical vertebrae can literally choke off the blood vessels to the brain

Incidence of anatomical compressions of the internal jugular veins with full block of their flows in patients with chronic cerebro-spinal venous insufficiency and multiple sclerosis
EUROCHAP – IUA, 2013
Dr. Sandro Mandolesi MD, a prominent Italian Expert on Multiple Sclerosis, conducted peer reviewed research on Upper Cervical chiropractic, and the results mirrored those of Dr. Raymond Damadian in the U.S

Eighty-One Patients with Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s Disease Undergoing Upper Cervical Chiropractic Care to Correct Vertebral Subluxation: A Retrospective Analysis
Journal of Vertebral Subluxation Research, 2004
Upper cervical subluxations were found in all 81 cases. After administering treatment to correct their upper cervical injuries, 40 of 44 (91%) MS cases and 34 of 37 (92%) PD cases showed symptomatic improvement and no further disease progression during the care period.

More detail of the mechanism of action

A misaligned Atlas bone literally torques the spinal cord via the myodural bridge and creates a bottle-necking effect at this vital junction. A physical and Mechanical blockage cannot be correct with chemicals (drugs), only a physical and mechanical unblocking.

This is what our precise realignment procedure does.

Research continues to show that this improper CSF flow caused by an atlas subluxation can be a primary of neurodegenerative diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s, Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy, Alzheimer’s, papilledema (blindness), etc. His research has shown clearly that when the misaligned bones in the top of the neck are restored to their normal position, the CSF flow normalizes and the patient’s’ condition improves or goes away completely. What’s amazing is that the method of correcting this problem doesn’t involve surgery or drugs, and is totally natural and safe.
